Most doctors preparing for the CASC already know a lot of psychiatry. The real challenge is turning that knowledge into a strong seven-minute performance: structuring the station, recognising what the task is asking, communicating naturally and showing the examiner the skills they are looking for. That is what the Masterclass focuses on.

It runs as 16 intensive small-group sessions, two to three times a week, mapped to the RCPsych CASC syllabus. In every session we play six stations, with each participant performing one full station. After every station you receive personalised feedback, and then we discuss it together: what went well, what could be improved, what the examiner is looking for and how we would approach it. Across the course that is 96 CASC stations.

Groups are deliberately small, 6 participants and 4 observers, so you get close supervision. Even when it is not your turn, you are learning: watching another candidate, thinking about how you would approach the same situation, and learning from the feedback afterwards. Observers follow every station and discussion at a lower price.

It isn't about more information to memorise. It is about how to perform in the CASC: how to structure your approach, manage your seven minutes, avoid common mistakes and adapt to the patient in front of you rather than rely on a memorised script.

We continually review and update the content based on what we learn from teaching CASC candidates, and the course is accredited by The CPD Certification Service (internationally recognised) for 36 CPD hours.
